On 11 June 2020, it was decided that the Schengen Member states should start allowing travelers to enter their countries from 1 July, gradually and partially, based on the situation of COVID19 in each country.

It is surprising that the UAE is currently not on the first list of the countries allowed to enter EU countries, given how the spread of the disease has been controlled by the authorities in the country. Keeping in mind that long term visas (Resident, Student, Spouse) applications have already started in the embassies of Schengen countries since June 2020, it is likely that UAE will make the cut in the second list, for the short term (tourist) Schengen visas.

The good news for residents and citizens of UAE is that the UK has started accepting applications for visitor visa applicants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This move reflects that soon Schengen countries would most likely open their visa centers in the country.
